At Chazuna in Uji, you’ll explore interactive tea exhibits, grind tencha into matcha, and learn to whisk it from Japanese and English-speaking instructors. The one-hour session includes museum admission, a sweet, and views toward tea fields and gardens.

Meet at the Great Court Restaurant for a 90-minute English afternoon tea beneath the British Museum’s famous glass roof. Choose organic loose-leaf or flowering tea, then enjoy sandwiches, pastries, cakes, and scones with clotted cream and jam. Prosecco is available as an optional extra.

Start at 2 pm for an expert-led tour of the National Gallery’s 700 years of art, with headsets to help you follow every explanation. Then sit down at Ochre for afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones, pastries, tea, and coffee. The three-hour format suits a short London visit.

Spend about an hour with artist Paul Seftel at his Cerrillos gallery, 25 minutes south of Santa Fe. See paintings made with marble, mica, turquoise, copper oxide, and other unusual materials, then explore their changing effects under darkness and ultraviolet light. Snacks and conversation are included.
“The gallery tour is an amazing experience. We didn't only look at beautiful paintings, we experienced them!!! As they transform right before your eyes under darkness as the lights go out and parts of the paintings glow mysteriously. Or under ultra violet light with another whole new look. Then put on the 3D glasses and do it all over again. Wow!!! I have two of Paul's pieces of art. Close ups pictured here but, the pics don't do them justice. Plus, the gardens, architecture and you get to meet Paul Seftel, the artist, who is very well rounded,”
You’ll spend five hours with a private driver-guide, visiting Thousand Island Lake, Bagua Tea Plantation, Pinglin Tea Museum, and a local tea house. Guides such as Ben and Alex explain Taiwanese tea clearly, with tasting, mountain views, and hotel pickup included.

Visit the Uji Matcha Tea Museum in Kyoto for interactive digital exhibits on Uji tea, from its origins and production to Gyokuro and Sencha. Touchscreen displays explain how tea is made, while a history room features Byodoin Phoenix Hall and a large Uji town screen. Museum entry is valid for one day.
Spend about an hour at Kyoto’s Old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Villa, a preserved 1880 merchant residence beside Shimogamo Shrine. Your ticket covers admission, the first floor, garden access, and matcha served on tatami while you look out at the changing seasons. The second and third floors are not included.

At Sushi Shin in The Museum of Kyoto, enjoy sushi prepared before you by a trained chef, then enter a traditional-style house on the basement floor for chanoyu. You will wear a haori, learn about tea utensils and customs, whisk your own matcha, and pair it with Kyoto sweets.
